First-month setup

Start month → balances → pay-in-full vs carry → Ready to Assign reveal.

The wizard exists so you trust the math before you assign. Re-run it any time from Settings → Restart budget month.

1. Pick a start month. Everything before that month is history, not this budget.
2. Glance at cash and cards. Linked balances come from the bank. You are not asked to lock every account by hand.
3. Pay in full or carry. Pay-in-full cards reserve what they owe. Carry cards fund a monthly payment you confirm — the rest is a loan, not today’s cash.
4. See Ready to Assign with the breakdown, then optionally seed essentials.

If a balance looks wrong, open the account and use Reconcile only for that account. There is no weekly “lock every account” ritual.
