Ready to Assign is money you have that isn’t assigned to anything yet. There is exactly one of it — not a different figure hiding in a future month.

It moves when you assign, cover, or release Set Aside. Spending does not change it: cash and the envelope move together. If the number just changed and you want the receipt, tap it — Polaris can name the causes.

If Ready to Assign goes negative, the figure itself is the door into “where should this come from.”
