Overspent vs over-assigned

A red category is not the same as claims exceeding cash. The words stay separate on purpose.

Overspent means one envelope’s Available is red. Cover it from another envelope, from Ready to Assign, or leave it honestly open.

Over-assigned means the envelopes together claim more cash than you have. Ready to Assign goes negative. That is a cash problem, not a category-color problem.

Covering a red row from a green one is Ready-to-Assign neutral. Fixing over-assigned means reducing claims or adding cash — Polaris will not pretend a move created money.
